I think you've managed to get the point you were trying to make across really well with both the art, story and mechanics. I would also be interested in seeing what would happen if the player was in fact allowed to look exactly like the NPCs (perhaps that was a possibility, but not one that I managed to figure out), and your commentary on how changing yourself just to fit into a box would affect both the world and your own mental health.
All in all, very well done! Can't wait for more! :)
